Suzannah Rose Piano Studio

Suzannah holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University, a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Utah, and has taught piano lessons since she was 14 years old. She has over a decade of teaching experience during which she has taught music students in many different settings: at Brigham Young University as a graduate instructor, privately in her own studio both in-person and online, and at Washington Elementary as a volunteer for the University of Utah Student Outreach Program.
Over the years, Suzannah has been an active member of MTNA, holding leadership positions in collegiate chapters and presenting at both state and national conferences. Her teaching emphasizes individualized learning, strong technique, and injury prevention. Suzannah teaches students of all ages and levels, and loves helping students succeed and find joy in music-making!

"I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning."

More Information
Tuition
The tuition schedule is based on trimesters: Fall (Sept–Dec), Spring (Jan–April), and Summer (May–August). Studio tuition is due by the second week of the trimester (or the 10th of the month, if you decide to pay monthly). If tuition is paid after the second week of the trimester or 10th of the month, please add $10 to your check. A yearly registration fee ($25) will be due in September with your Fall trimester tuition.
During Fall and Spring Trimesters, each student will be offered 14 private lessons. Tuition is not prorated based on the number of lessons in a given month, and remains the same regardless of holidays or cancellations. The flat monthly rate helps keep scheduling and budgeting simple and ensures your time slot is held for you each week.
30-minute private lessons – $145/month
45-minute private lessons – $195/month
60-minute private lessons – $265/month
75-minute private lessons – $333/month
Yearly registration fee: $25
Lesson Etiquette
The following expectations must be met to maintain a respectful and productive learning environment:
-
Please be on time for your lessons!
-
Wash hands with soap and water before playing your piano, or before coming to your in-person lesson.
-
No gum/food allowed at lessons or in the studio.
-
Please turn the sound off on cell phones and smart watches during lessons to minimize distractions.
-
Please keep fingernails clipped; you cannot play piano with proper technique if you have long fingernails.
-
Hair should be pulled back away from face, and hands/wrists should be free of jewelry and watches.
-
Bring all lesson supplies to your scheduled time (music, notebook, pencil, and practice binder if applicable).
-
If you are dropping off your student, please pick up your child promptly after the lesson.
Parents of students under 9-years old should plan to attend lessons so they can understand lesson assignments as well as the student. Please don’t bring siblings if possible, and keep distractions to a minimum in the lesson room. Parents of older students are invited to attend lessons, but the responsibility of lesson preparation rests on the student.
Recitals
Recitals are held two times per year (December and April).
Concert etiquette: Please no talking or whispering during a performance. Enter and leave only between performances. No candy, food, or drink allowed in the recital halls. Make sure cell phones are turned off.
Performance attire: Business formal, flat shoes. Practice playing the piano in the clothes and shoes that you will wear to perform.
Student Preparation: The more you perform the easier it becomes. Perform for family and friends regularly. Doing as many performances as you can before a recital helps with preparation and minimizing recital jitters.
Practicing
Consistent, daily practice = consistent progress. Dr. Shinichi Suzuki famously said, “Only practice on the days you eat!”
Your student must have a piano at home on which to practice regularly. The piano should be tuned (practicing on a piano that is in tune is very important for training your ear).
Students are expected to practice their weekly lesson assignments regularly at home, at least 5–6 days a week. Quality and consistency are key. It is important to remember that, like anything else, in order to progress and enjoy your musical experience it is essential to spend a good amount of time practicing and listening to other musicians. As you progress, your practice time will also increase. For children, parental support and supervision are essential for their success. In the event that your student becomes consistently delinquent in practicing, parents will be contacted to determine a practice plan and reevaluate goals.
Suggested practice times:
Beginner–––––––30 minutes/day
Intermediate–––––45 minutes/day
Advanced–––––––at least 1 hour/day
